Picture this: your family, your favourite place, and an hour where nobody has to sit still.

Here’s how a family session with me unfolds.

Every member of your family is welcome in front of my camera. The shy ones. The wild ones. The ones who think they don’t like having their photo taken. They’re all allowed to show up exactly as they are.

We’ll meet somewhere that means something to you. It could be your backyard, a favourite stretch of beach along Okanagan Lake, a trail you walk often, somewhere that already holds pieces of your life.

If you’re unsure, don’t worry. I grew up here, and I’ve spent a lifetime noticing where the light falls best in every season, the quiet corners, the open spaces, the places that give you room to slow down
and just enjoy your time together.

Maybe you’ll bring the dog. (Please bring the dog. Or the cat. Or the fish. The more the merrier!)

At first, it might feel a little awkward. That’s completely normal. I’ll gently guide you into a few simple movements, maybe it’s a piggyback ride, a race to the next tree, sitting close together, or wandering down the trail. After some time and when it feels right, I step back. I do not direct every second of our experience. That’s not me and it’s not you either. Instead I choose to notice. I notice the way your child reaches for your hand without thinking or the small, familiar gestures that make your family yours.

The best thing you can do during our sessions is forget a camera is even there. I hope you feel comfortable enough to be fully present with your family. When that moment happens, the photographs become an extension of you. You’ll have the kind of images that years down the road will bring you right back to this moment.
